From experiment to excellence - our learnings and the way forward with AI in pharmaceutical sales

After intensive months of testing, experimenting and learning, we have gained valuable insights into the implementation of AI solutions in pharmaceutical sales. Our journey from initial AI hype to developing practical applications has not always been easy, but it has given us a clear idea of how real value can be created with AI in the complex environment of the pharmaceutical industry.
One key learning was the realization that data sovereignty and security have top priority. Especially in the pharmaceutical environment, the protection of sensitive data is invaluable. We therefore deliberately opted for GDPR-compliant servers in Germany and operate our AI infrastructure autonomously. Sharing data with external cloud providers or AI platforms is out of the question for us.
Another decisive factor is the close integration of business knowledge and technology. Pure AI algorithms without industry knowledge run the risk of delivering irrelevant or even incorrect results (hallucinations). By integrating our many years of pharmaceutical expertise into our AI models, we have been able to significantly improve the accuracy and relevance of our solutions. We also rely on continuous learning and feedback loops to constantly optimize our models.
Our tests with various language models, database technologies and orchestration frameworks have shown us that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. The selection of suitable technologies must always be tailored to the specific use case and the individual requirements of the company. Flexibility and the ability to use our developed platform for different CRM systems and data sources were crucial for us from the outset.
In conclusion, the initial AI hype may have fizzled out, but the potential of this technology for pharmaceutical sales is enormous. The key lies in a sound strategy, the use of high-quality data, close collaboration between business and technology experts and a clear focus on specific use cases that offer real added value.
We are convinced that with our developed AI platform, we have created a solid basis for breaking new ground in pharmaceutical sales.
